Destined For Greatness - Short Film

For my Final year project during my bachelors, I worked on this short film called "Destined For Greatness". 

The objective of this short film is to inspire the young generation who is the target audience of this film to follow their dreams and not give up on what they believe to be their passion in life. It also aims to motivate them and tell them not to let failure and struggles of late teenage/ the early twenties make them give up on their dreams. The film aims to be inspirational, relatable, and connecting on a personal level.

I wrote the script for this film, as well as directed, produced and acted in it. 

Idea & Story:

The Story of Destined for greatness is the story of a young guy named “Sarim” in his early 20’s who is an aspiring rapper/musician. He comes from a simple family though who do not understand his dream.

 Ever since he was a kid, he has always been creative and artistic. Music is more than just a hobby to him; it is something he is very passionate about. At the time of his story, he is in the final year of his university.

We see him always working on his music and his art and can see his passion for it.

He has a few very close friends who are the only ones he eventually shows his music to, all of whom on hearing it are very impressed. Some of his friends who do music of their own as well are always performing, always asking him to come out with them and perform but his self-doubt and social anxiety always stops him from doing so.

While all of this is going on, he is getting older and with age is now also being asked to make other decisions about his career and choose a safer, more reliable option by his family and friends.

We throughout the film see him fight all these hurdles and adversities, stick to what he believes he was born to do, get over his hurdles and in the end actually embrace his inner artist and find the courage to show his art to the world.

Documentary - Twin Cities : A Mosaic of Cultures

This was a documentary I worked on called "Twin Cities : A mosaic of cultures". The Idea behind making this documentary for me is to show people the different cultures and blend of different old, historical as well as new and modern places in Twin cities : Islamabad and Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

This is an attempt by me to show the contrast of that diversity and show people the beauty of Pakistan to maybe portray a different image of the country then what we usually get to see in media.

The reason we have chosen this topic is because the places and areas we have chosen to cover show the contrast in the diversity of cultures in the country and how within the same city, so close to each other, you can find both a historical cultural place to see the traditional side of Pakistan showing its rich and diverse cultural history and at the same time just a small drive away you can also find a modern and luxurious counterpart to that as well if that’s more your cup of tea.

So, there’s something for everyone here.
